Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is keen to bring Milad Mohammadi at Ibrox but could face strong competition from Celtic.
The 24-year-old plays as a left-back for Russian outfit Akhmat Grozny, but he can also operate as a winger, wing-back, or right-back.
The report claimed that Rangers would have to pay in the region of £2 million to sign him.
Getting the work permit shouldn’t be an issue as Mohammadi now has 21 caps to his name, two of which came as a substitute in games at the World Cup this summer.
Rangers could face strong competition from their Old Firm rivals Celtic. The Scottish Sun has now reported that the Bhoys have also registered an interest in the player.
Celtic are financially in a stronger position than Rangers, and it wouldn’t be a problem for them to dish out £2m reportedly needed to sign Mohammadi.
The Ibrox club must act quickly and make a quick move for the defender if they are indeed serious. Gerrard has stressed the need to sign a defender, but he would be a smart signing for the club.
