Inter Milan v Catania
Serie A
Saturday 24 October 2009
Kick-off: 19:45 BST
Inter Milan Preview
Inter didn’t impress in Europe this week (what’s new) as they were held to a 2-2 draw against Dinamo Kiev – but Jose Mourinho knows that his team are in a class of their own when it comes to the domestic league and they’ll be looking to extend their lead at the top of the table and building on the whopping 5-0 win against Genoa from last weekend.
Last season in this fixture saw Inter secure a scrappy 2-1 win thanks to a goal from Quaresma and an own goal scored by Christian Terlizzi.
Catania Preview
Despite their minnow status in the league, Catania coach Gianluca Atzori will be confident that his side have learned the lessons from last season. In addition Catania have been unbeaten in six games going into Saturday’s match, and they will look to frustrate and limit the space for Inter the same way we’ve seen European opposition do in recent months.
Catania are currently 15th in the league table and although the games against Inter aren’t the ones most teams expect to win, a point (or three) here would be a real boost to their season.
Inter Milan v Catania Prediction
Catania registered its first win of the new season last weekend when goals from Adrian Ricchiuti and Jorge Martinez helped them to a 2-1 win over Cagliari.
Inter on the other hand hammered early season pace setters Genoa 5-0, proving the gulf in class between themselves and the rest of Italy.
There can only be one result here.
Prediction: Inter Milan 3-0 Catania
