Bologna have reportedly rejected a €20m offers from Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester City for their highly talented midfielder Amadou Diawara.
According to reports from Corriere di Bologna via Football Italia, the Serie A club have rejected a €20m offer from the two Premier League clubs as they do not want to sell the 18-year-old in the January transfer window.
Bologna are desperate to keep hold of the Guinean midfielder as they believe the player could be sold for a much higher fee in future.
But how long can they keep him at the club remains to be seen.
Diawara’s agent had confirmed last month about Chelsea’s interest in the midfielder, who has made 15 appearances for Roberto Donadoni’s side so far.
“There is a strong interest from Chelsea” said Robert Visan, the agent of Diawara in an exclusive interview to Tuttomercatoweb.
Diawara operates as a midfield enforcer, and good at breaking up opposition attacks. He is equally good at distribution and has been dubbed as the next Yaya Toure, possibly due to a similar playing style.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has a strong connection with Pini Zahavi, who came to an agreement with the player’s agent. Of all the Premier League being linked with the player, Chelsea appear to have the best chance of signing the midfielder.
As said earlier, Bologna are looking to keep Diawara at the club beyond this season, and the Serie A club are expected to meet his representatives shortly in order to discuss his future and possibly over a new contract.
