Rodriguez will now undergo a medical at the Allianz Arena before signing the contract.
Real Madrid signed him after an impressive World Cup in 2014 but the player has dropped down the pecking order since the departure of Carlo Ancelotti.
Rodriguez was keen on playing regularly ahead of the 2018 World Cup and he will be delighted with the move to Bayern Munich. Ancelotti managed to get the best out of him at Real Madrid and he will be hoping for more of the same now.
The Colombian has won the Champions League twice and the La Liga once during his time at the club. In total, he made 111 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 36 goals and giving 41 assists.

He said: “We’re delighted we’ve been able to complete this transfer. Signing James Rodriguez was our coach Carlo Ancelotti’s biggest wish, following their successful spell working together in Madrid. James is a very versatile player. He’s a goal scorer himself, he sets up a lot of goals and on top of that, he’s great from set-pieces. There’s no question that this transfer further increases the quality in our team.”
The winger will join his new teammates on the pre-season tour of China and Singapore once the medical is complete. The squad jets off for a 12-day Audi Summer Tour on Sunday.
