Asmir Begovic is all set to become Chelsea’s second major signing (the club has already confirmed a deal for Radamel Falcao), after reports emerged that the Stoke City goal keeper will complete his £8m move on Friday.
According to reports from The Guardian, Begovic is set to join Chelsea in an £8m deal that will see Dutch midfielder Marco van Ginkel moving to Stoke City on a season long loan.
Stoke City rejected an opening bid from Chelsea, but when a player plus cash offer was proposed they agreed to sell one of their best players. Van Ginkel, who spent the last season on loan to AC Milan, is believed to be that player.
Begovic has only 12 months remaining on his contract, and therefore the club would happily accept the 8m transfer fee from Chelsea. Shay Given, 39, is likely to replace Begovic. The former Newcastle goal keeper underwent a medical at Stoke City on Thursday and is set to sign a two-year-contract.
