Roma v Inter Milan
Italian Serie A
Stadio Olimpico – Rome, Italy
27 March 2010 – 17:00 GMT
AS Roma can close the gap to one point in the race for the Scudetto as they host Serie A leaders Inter Milan.
Roma v Inter Milan Preview
Saturday’s match is extremely important for both sides as the Serie A season has eight matches. Inter Milan has led for most of the season but only one win in their last four matches has their lead down to four points. Roma are tied with AC Milan on points and could move to within one point of Inter Milan if they can get a win. A win for Inter Milan would put them seven points above Roma. This would likely kill Roma’s chances of winning the Serie A.
Roma has been very strong at the Stadio Olimpico with a 12-1-2 record and +17 goal difference. Inter has a 7-5-3 away record with a +12 goal difference.
The reason Roma is now challenging Inter at the top of the table is they have not lost a Serie A match since November. They have slowly climbed the table and won their last two matches. Roma will have leader scorer Francecso Totti back from a knee injury.
Inter Milan did win their last Serie A match, a 3-0 win at Livorno, and are still in the driver’s seat in the title race. This is the toughest match remaining for Inter Milan as they have already played both matches against AC Milan. Even a draw would keep their four point lead over Roma and at least a two point lead of AC Milan. Inter does have a trip to Moscow in the Champions League on Wednesday but they will be focused on Saturday and be able to get a result.
