Just when Arsenal looked in pole position to sign teenage sensation Adrien Rabiot from French champions Paris Saint-Germain, there has come a twist in the tale. According to the reliable Italian website Tuttosport, AC Milan are attempting a last-minute steal of Rabiot from the Gunner’s clutches.
PSG boss Laurent Blanc claimed earlier today that Rabiot is not interested in renewing his contract with the club. However, Milan are working on a deal that will see the 19 year-old extend his contract at the Parc des Princes by two years and spend these couple of seasons on loan at the San Siro.
Premier League sides Arsenal and Chelsea were said to be battling it out for Rabiot, but PSG have slapped a €25 million price tag on the youngster. This is despite there being only one year left on his deal.
Under the circumstances, Milan’s offer may be a tad more suitable for PSG, who will be able to keep the talented Rabiot on the club’s books for two more years.
The France U-21 international broke into PSG’s first team last year; he made 34 appearances in all competitions, with 25 of them coming in Ligue 1. He thereby caught the eye of several top clubs around Europe and the intense tug-of-war currently going on to sign him proves just how bright his future is deemed to be.
