Chelsea are set to finalise the appointment of Antonio Conte once the Italian has had a meeting with their Russian owner Roman Abramovich.
Conte’s representatives have been in London ironing out the details of the deal since Friday. The Italian is set to meet with the club’s owner in Monte Carlo soon.
The former Juventus manager will take over from Guus Hiddink at the end of this season and will be expected to oversee a major rebuilding job at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have fallen behind Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham this season and will have to fight their way back to the top of the English Premier League once again.
Jose Mourinho won the title with Chelsea last season but lost his job after a poor start to this season.
Conte did a magnificient job at Juventus rebuilding the side from scratch. He will be expected to do a similar job at Chelsea.
It will be interesting to see how the Italian does in the Premier League with all the resources at his disposal.
