Manchester United midfielder, Ander Herrera, has showered heaps of praise on Antoine Griezmann, the Atlético Madrid forward, saying the Frenchman is one of the best in the world at the moment.
Griezmann joined Atlético from Real Sociedad in 2013 for a fee believed to be close to €30m. Under the watchful eye of Diego Simeone, he has developed into a world class talent. While he has always been an intelligent footballer, what he added more to his game at Atlético is goals and consistency.
In his first season at Atlético, he scored 22 La Liga goals for his side. In the following season, he added another 22 league goals to his name. He enjoyed a tremendous season last year, helping Atlético reach the Champions League final. Griezmann continued his good form for his country as well, as they ended up as Runners up in Euro 2016, France having lost 1-0 to Portugal.
In a Q/A session with his followers on Twitter, Herrera referred to Griezmann as an ‘incredible’ talent, saying that the Frenchman has a ‘great future’ ahead of him. The Spaniard further adds that the Frenchman is one of the best players in the world at the moment.
Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Griezmann, with the Times reporting last week that José Mourinho is preparing a massive summer bid to sign the Frenchman.
Also, reports in British media claim that United officials have discussed personal terms with the Atlético Madrid star’s representatives during this week. The Red Devils are ready to offer a £220,000-per-week deal to the 25-year-old forward.
Atlético Madrid president, Enrique Cerezo, said back in May that their star player is not for sale at any price, but it remains to be seen how long they can keep him at the Spanish club. Griezmann does have a release clause in his current deal, thought to be around €80m.
