Shakhtar midfielder Alex Texeira has confirmed that he has had transfer talks with Premier League champions Chelsea.
Chelsea are in desperate need of a goalscoring midfielder and Texeira’s versatility means that he will be an ideal fit. Also his playing style could be a huge hit in England.
Texeira said: ‘I know there is interest from Chelsea and there have been some talks, but at the moment nothing is concrete.
‘Now I just want to go on vacation in Brazil then I will see what the future holds.’
With the likes of Hazard and Willian, the Brazilian attacker could form a fearsome trio.
The Shakhtar star has scored 22 goals this season already and has attracted a lot of interest because of his explosive performances in the Champions League.
The arrival of Texeira could be bad news for new signing Pedro. The Spaniard joined the Blues from Barcelona in the summer, but has failed to impress so far.
Pedro and has been in and out of the side and considering his playing position and role, Texeira is more likely to replace him than any other player in the squad.
Willian and Hazard have already established themselves in the wide positions and Texeira loves to operate centrally. Playing him instead of Pedro would add more balance and creativity to the Chelsea side.
Furthermore, the Brazilian is a consistent scorer of goals and will add some much needed sharpness to Chelsea’s attack.
