£16m Liverpool star set for Anfield exit in January?

Mario Balotelli

Liverpool have rejected Parma’s offer to loan striker Mario Balotelli till the end of the season. The controversial Italian has misfired since joining Liverpool from AC Milan for £16m and his future at Anfield has been under intense speculations. Balotelli was earlier linked with a return to his country with Juventus interested.

The trusted and reputed Gianluca Di Marzio website have reported that Parma who are having a nightmarish Serie A season have been denied to sign the 24 year old as Liverpool have responded with a ‘firm no’.

We had also reported a few days back that Liverpool are ready to battle Chelsea for £32m Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi but TMW have cited Tuttosport claiming that the player’s agent is set for talks with Inter for a contract extension till 2019.

There might a gap between Icardi’s wage demands and what the San Siro side are willing to give but an agreement should be reached soon as Inter will not sell their prized asset. New manager Roberto Mancini also believes that Icardi could be a leader for his team in the coming years.

The report also claims that Mancini is still interested in Lucas Leiva but can turn to Atletico Madrid’s Mario Suarez if he fails to sign the Brazilian. Lucas has been in superb form over the past few weeks and Liverpool have lost just once in their last 10 games when Lucas has started.

Manager Brendan Rodgers though has clarified that the defensive midfielder is going nowehere.

Elsewhere, the Independent have cited TMW claiming that the Reds are monitoring Marseille defensive midfielder Mario Lemina as Steven Gerrard’s replacement. The 21 year old Gabonese born French international has featured in 15 games this season scoring twice.

Finally, Daily Mail reports today that the Reds are willing to make a £12m bid West Brom striker Saido Berahino who has netted 14 goals in 26 appearances this term. It is highly unlikely that the Baggies will sell the Emglish international.
