Serie A giants Napoli are targeting Liverpool duo Lucas Leiva and Fabio Borini, according to reports from Italy.
Italian newspaper Tuttosport claim that Napoli are monitoring the possibility of signing Liverpool duo Lucas and Borini, however, a lot will depend on the outcome of their match against Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday.
Napoli have done few descent businesses this summer but should they beat Bilbao and qualify for the group stages of the Champions League, they will have the money and glamour to attract top players.
Borini impressed last season on loan at Sunderland but with Liverpool having signed two top strikers already (Balotelli included) chances are high that Borini will be either sent on loan or be sold permanently.
Lucas was signed Rafael Benitez during his time at Liverpool. The Brazilian midfielder initially struggled to make an impact but soon became fan favourite through his sheer hard work and consistent performances.
Unfortunately, he has suffered injuries one after another in the last few seasons and hasn’t been able to replicate his old form for Liverpool.
Lucas himself has hinted that he might be open to move, should a better opportunity arise, although insisted that he remains focusses on his job at Liverpool.
