Chelsea’s hopes of landing Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi sometime in the near future don’t look too promising, as the Argentine hit-man has explicitly said he isn’t interested in a move to England.
Napoli are currently 4th in Serie A, and the 23-year old has been a big reason why, with four goals and four assists.
The right offer can sway anyone, but Napoli has a lot of promise, and Lavezzi is looked at as one of the players to help them achieve it. The Champions League is a realistic possibility for this season, and beyond that, there’s the potential for the club to return to or get near the heights it reached during the Diego Maradona era. Napoli haven’t shown any interest in selling he or another of their prized assets, Marek Hamsik, and there’s no financial need for them to do so.
Lavezzi has a nice long-term contract at the club, and judging by his comments, he looks to be pretty happy where he is, so that should curtail the rumors for at least a little while. I think if Lavezzi does make a move sometime soon, he’ll likely remain in Italy, but even that or his strong comments won’t deter Chelsea or anyone else from being interested.
