According to reports in Italian daily Gazzetta Dello Sport, Marouane Fellaini is close to join Serie A side Napoli after Manchester United has reportedly agreed on a loan deal for the player. The Red Devils will pay half of the Belgian’s wages as he heads towards the exit door at Old Trafford.
The report also claims that United manager Louis Van Gaal has decided to the axe the 26 year old after he was told, “There is no room in Manchester for you. You’re out of the technical project.”
However there is one potential stumbling block before the former Everton midfielder completes his move to the Stadion Sao Paolo. United have asked an outright cash of €4.5m for the player’s services but the Partenopei are only willing to pay €2m.
However it is believed that an agreement will be reached soon and Van Gaal is keen to push the player to the Italian side rather than have him warm the sidelines. Napoli will also have an option to buy Fellaini next season should he performs well in his loan spell under former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez.
