According to reports from trusted and reputed Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Glen Johnson has decided not to renew his contract with Liverpool and could leave the club in the summer for an experience abroad. The right back has hardly played over the past weeks and with each passing game, it appears that the player’s future is set to be away from Anfield.
Italian side Roma have been interested in the player over the last few months and the 30 year old’s contract with the Reds is set to expire in the summer. TMW have also stated that Roma are set to meet Johnson’s representatives on Thursday in the hope to sign a pre contract agreement with the player.
However as we had earlier claimed that any move away from Merseyside will depend on financial aspects. Johnson might ask for a salary of €4m which could be out of reach for Roma. The report also claims that the figure could make a possible transfer move complicated but if the player lowers his wages, a transfer move is possible.
Moreover, Johnson could be deemed unwanted by Liverpool with Brendan Rodgers now favouring the 3-4-3 formation. Lazar Markovic and Jordan Ibe have been playing as right wing backs while Javier Manquillo is also available. Jon Flannagan is also set to return after his long term injury which could thus see Johnson leave Merseyside.
