Edinson Cavani has claimed recently that he wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The major reason why Cavani wants to leave is he has been played out of his natural position (deployed in the wide areas) by Blanc, while he prefers (like any other top striker) to play in his customary number nine role.
Manchester United and other Premier League clubs are repeatedly linked with a move for Cavani. The Red Devils could be looking to sign a new striker in the summer and Cavani fits the bill easily.
Cavan’s father, Luis Cavani, in an interview revealed that there has been no contact with Manchester United over a possible transfer.

Apart from Wayne Rooney, no other Manchester United strikers have really made a strong impression this season. Robin van Persie struggled with his injury most of the time and he hasn’t been able to replicate the form of his previous seasons. Plus, he is approaching 32 and one cannot expect him to score 30-odd goals per season at this stage of his career.
Likewise, Radamel Falcao has been a shadow of his former self since his loan move from Monaco in the summer. In a normal situation, United should not convert his loan deal into a permanent move, but the Red Devils might change their stance, as report suggest Falcao’s stay is inextricably linked with the future of United’s best player this season, David de Gea. It’s a complex story.
Javier Hernandez has done relatively well in Spain, but he doesn’t feature in the plans of Louis van Gaal and will be sold in the summer. In such a scenario, any manager would have been tempted to sign a top striker, but investing heavily on Cavani doesn’t make much sense. He is 28 already and would cost around €40-45m at least. The money could be better used elsewhere.
