This has been a phenomenal turnaround for Chelsea. That’s what confidence can do to a team. From the brink of a hopeless campaign, Chelsea could yet end the season on a high.

For all the negativity and upheaval surrounding the club, Chelsea could still finish in the European places and win the FA Cup as well. And, then there’s a little Champions League second leg tie against PSG duel at hand next week at the Bridge, where Chelsea may fancy a chance to progress to the next round.

The Blues have now moved within five points of fifth-placed Manchester United. A 12-match unbeaten run has propelled them to eighth, and presented them with a glimmer of hope of securing a place for the European spot.

When Chelsea lost 9 of their opening 16 games, it was hardly conceivable that the Blues could finish in top five at the end of the season. The 2-1 victory against Norwich last night was the first time since April, when Chelsea recorded three consecutive Premier League wins.

It wasn’t a spectacular performance from the Blues, but an early goal from Kenedy had put them in the driver’s seat. Let’s take a look at this season’s fastest goals:

Kenedy: Chelsea, away to Norwich – 39 sec

Matt Ritchie: Bournemouth, vs Spurs, Oct 25 – 49 sec

Enner Valencia: West Ham vs Man City, Jan 23 – 53 sec

James Milner: Liverpool vs Aston Villa, Sept 26 – 1min 6 sec

Dele Alli: Tottenham vs Norwich, Feb 2 – 1 min 36 sec

Chelsea Transfer News: Latest on Miralem Pjanic

Good news for the Chelsea fans. Marina Granovskaia, Chelsea’s director, has spoken to Miralem Pjanic’s agents / advisors / representatives, per The Times. Chelsea understand that Pjanic has a £31m buy-out clause stipulated in the Bosnia-Herzegovenia midfielder’s contract at Roma.

The 25-year-old is one of the few players recommended by Antonio Conte, who is expected to be announced as the next Chelsea manager later this month. The club will hardly have any trouble in meeting Pjanic’s £60k-per-week salary. Pjanic is interested in moving to Chelsea, despite knowing he could miss out on Champions League football.
