Chelsea did a smart piece of business in the January transfer window by selling Ramires for €25m to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning FC. And if the latest reports from France are to be believed, the Blues could sell one more player to China before the Chinese transfer window ends on February 26.
According to French website Le 10 Sport, Chelsea striker Loic Remy could be heading to the Chinese Super League. Remy has struggled for games this season and was angling a move away from Stamford Bridge for a while.
He was linked with a move to several Premier League clubs in January, but Chelsea probably weren’t too keen to sell him to any club within the same league.
Chelsea are locked in a negotiation with Shanghai Shenhua over a deal for Remy, which Le 10 claims to be a permanent one.
The French publication reports that Shanghai Shenhua are willing to offer a fee in the region of €15m, which Chelsea are ready to accept, but Remy’s wages remains a fly in the ointment here.
In other news, Chelsea are also reportedly in talks with PSG to negotiate the transfer of Brazilian defender Thiago Silva.
The 31-year-old Brazilian is valued at €20m and Chelsea would not mind spending that amount for one of the best defenders in the world. Silva has won league titles with PSG and now could look to move away from France to experience a different league.
