Chelsea being frugal? That might come as a surprise to many, but that could be the case in January. According to The Independent, the Blues may be looking to swing a loan deal for CSKA Moscow striker Vagner Love.
Love has been linked with moves to the Premier League recently, with Tottenham and Everton both mentioned as having great interest in him. However, Chelsea could be able to strike a deal, not only because of Roman Abramovich connection, but also because they could offer more than either Everton or Tottenham, and not just financially. A move to Stamford Bridge would allow Love the chance to prove himself worthy of a regular call-up to Brazil’s national team, and having a chance to win the Champions League and the Premier League title don’t hurt either.
His compatriot and former teammate Jo hasn’t had a great deal of success since his move from CSKA to Manchester City in the summer, but that certainly won’t deter anyone from going after Love, who led the Russian Premier League in scoring in the 2008 season with 20 goals and has five goals so far in the UEFA Cup.
Love recently said that he fancies Real Madrid, but with the club signing Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, that may leave Love available for any other suitable suitor, including Chelsea.
