According to reports in the reputed and respectable Gianluca Di Marzio website, Bundesliga club Wolfsburg are desperate to sign Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku in the summer.
The report claims that Wolfsburg made a last minute attempt to hijack Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, offering the player around €4m in wages, way more than the €2.3m that he will earn for the Serie A Champions. However, it was too late and the Spaniard signed for the Bianconeri.
We had earlier reported that the old Lady were also lining to snap up Lukaku from Chelsea but now that the Turin outfit have signed Morata, it is highly unlikely that they will move for the Belgian.
The 21-year-old striker who spent the last season on loan at Everton has already expressed his desire to leave Chelsea and was close to joining Atletico Madrid but Rojiblancos signed Mario Mandzukic from Bayern Munich to end their interest in Lukaku.
My view: Chelsea would unlikely allow Lukaku to leave on the cheap but now that they have signed Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid, the Blues might be forced to give in to the player’s wishes to leave Stamford Bridge.
