According to the Daily Mail, Fulham are interested in making a move for former Arsenal star Alexander Hleb.
New Fulham manager Mark Hughes reportedly has a £25m transfer kitty to work with, and one of the players on Hughes’ radar looks to be Hleb, according to the Mail.
In May 2008, it was stated by Hleb’s agent that he was ‘tired of the noisy and chaotic life in London’. Two months later, he departed Arsenal for Barcelona in a €17m move, but the step up hasn’t been quite what he hoped. In his first season at Barca, he made only eight league starts, and he didn’t play a vital role in helping the club win their La Liga, Champions League, and Copa del Rey trophy treble. This past season, he went on loan to former club VfB Stuttgart, and he was a regular for the club.
Hleb stated last summer that he regretted leaving Arsenal, and it’s now believed that he’s keen on a return to the Premier League, where he starred with the Gunners from 2005-08. His best season with the club was his final campaign in 2007/08, when he scored five goals and notched eleven assists.
