Jose Mourinho For AC Milan?

The footballing merry-go-round appears to be in full swing and all the circus seems to have one man at the centre: one Jose Mourinho.

Since his departure by mutual assent from Chelsea, Mourinho has been the hotly chased, rather the hotly contested, manager in Europe. Reports are riff that the Portuguese is England’s first choice and some have even suggested that the English FA has already help talks with the former Porto and Chelsea boss.

But now there appears to be another twist in the Mourinho roller-coaster. Italy’s best selling newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport says that Mourinho is certain to take over at AC Milan who are not performing so well in the Italian Serie A this season. Of course that move won’t occur until the end of the season when current Milan coach would have completed his 7th straight season with the Rossoneri but the plans have been hatched.

Would Mourinho’s management benefit Milan? Certainly it would bring more steel and solidity to this ageing Milan team that appears hugely vulnerable at the back and relies heavily on Kaka and to a lesser degree on Andrea Pirlo. A new manager would also invariably mean new ideas and more pressure on Silvio Berlusconi to dig into his bank account and hand over the cash to be spent on players. Mourinho’s man managements skills are brilliant and he does possess the ability to crawl out results from the impossible of situations and from the impossible of teams. Mourinho would certainly be the most suitability candidate for the job at Milan although the Milan fans could put a question mark on his playing style.

This is of course not to suggest that Carlo Ancelotti is worse and ought to depart immediately. The Italian has won the UEFA Champions League twice in the last four seasons and could have won a third. But in the past two seasons, he has been unable to sustain the tempo, rhythm or the consistency in the Serie A. This season Milan are already off the pace in Italy and although Berlusconi doesn’t accept it, the truth is that Milan do need a shake-up.

So would Mourinho be that shake-up material? The man is definitely the most wanted in Europe and is said to have snubbed off the England job after an overhyped come-and-get-me plea. Would indeed Milan be better off without Ancelotti? More importantly, would they be better off with the Special One?
