Unsettled Real Madrid star Kaká has admitted that, should Manchester City qualify for Champions League football next season, they could be on the cusp of becoming a dominant force in world football.
The 28-year-old forward turned down the chance to join City from AC Milan during the 2009 January transfer window before moving to the Bernabeu the following summer.
Speaking to The Daily Record, Kaká said;
“The match between [Manchester] City and Spurs is so much more important than three points. If City win it they can start their journey to becoming a super club.
I have said that you couldn’t buy history but if City start qualifying for the Champions League, they can start creating their own history. And with the resources they have, they can create a super team very quickly.”
The Brazilian international also thinks that City will have their pick of the top performers at this summer’s World Cup in South Africa;
“In a World Cup year players’ price-tags will always go rapidly up if they have a good tournament and City will probably be one of only a few teams in the world who will be able to afford the crazy prices.
If they beat Tottenham and ultimately get Champions League football then we can expect some of the world’s best to move to them in the summer.”
So there we go. Could this girlish eyelash fluttering possibly be construed as ‘flirting’ on Kaká’s part? He’s had to endure a torrid time (to put it mildly) in La Liga this season, so maybe a quick ship-jump to Eastlands (depending on their final league standing) is back on the cards after all.
