Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie has revealed that he would love to play for Rangers in future.
The boyhood Rangers fan joined the Premier League side last summer for a fee of around £20million but he was close to moving to Ibrox 12 months prior to that.
The player revealed that he met with Gerrard before and spoke about a move to Rangers. The striker wanted to join the club after the chat as well but the move never materialised.
When asked if he will play for Rangers in future, he said (quotes via Daily Record): “I think I will. There’s been a couple of times where we’ve been close before.”
The 23-year-old has scored 4 goals for the Premier League side this season and he is likely to improve with experience.
He could prove to be a tremendous addition to the Rangers attack. However, a move seems very unlikely for now.
Sheffield United have paid big money for him and they will expect him to develop into a star for them.
Rangers would have to pay a lot to change their mind and sign him in the coming months.
Although the Ibrox outfit could have a significant transfer warchest if Morelos moves on, the move still seems quite unlikely.
McBurnie might have to wait for some time before he can fulfill his boyhood dream of playing at Ibrox.
