Noel Whelan expects Will Huffer to leave Leeds United this summer.
Huffer will be out of contract in the summer and it seems that the 21-year-old has played his last game for Leeds.
The Whites have been linked with a permanent move for Meslier and they have Casilla at the club. Therefore, it seems highly unlikely that they will offer Huffer a new deal at the end of this season.
Marcelo Bielsa needs to improve his goalkeeping options this summer. Casilla has been inconsistent this season and he needs upgrading. It will be interesting to see Bielsa keeps his faith in the Spaniard next season.
Whelan said to Football Insider: “I think he has played his last game for Leeds. It looks like we are going to sign Meslier, we have still got Kiko Casilla and I think we need another experienced goalkeeper behind us – that is a must if we are in the Premier League. Key positions need key players.
“It might be his last game. I think he need to work his trade somewhere else because he is not going to get time at Leeds United. He should progress his career somewhere else and free up some space for someone more experienced.”
Huffer was unlikely to break into Leeds’ starting lineup anyway and a move would be ideal for him. He needs to join a club where he can play regular first-team football.
He is not good enough to start for Leeds United every week, especially if they are in the Premier League next season.
The Whites have a great chance of winning the Championship this season and it will be interesting to see if they can go all the way when football resumes. Currently, the Championship is postponed due to the Covid-19 crisis.
