Noel Whelan has urged Rangers to cash in on Alfredo Morelos this summer.
The Colombian is yet to sign a new deal with the club and it is believed that he is stalling on talks.
Rangers have now postponed discussions over a new deal.
Whelan believes that Rangers should take the money and invest in two or three new players this summer.
He said to Football Insider: “Who knows what will happen with Morelos? If they can sell him, I would sell him.
“Take the money and go out there and buy two or three strikers that will do a job for Rangers. Get some better personnel in that front line than Morelos, someone who’s not a big baby you have to look after all the time.”
Morelos has been linked with a move away from Ibrox for a while now and it will be interesting to see what happens at the end of this season.
He is the best player at the club and his departure will be a blow for the Scottish giants. However, he carries a lot of baggage and Rangers could do without that.
The striker has often let his team down because of his temper issues and he hasn’t quite managed to control his aggression yet.
If he manages to work on the mental aspect of his game, he could develop into a top-class player.
Rangers need a quality squad to challenge Celtic for the title and a summer overhaul might be on the cards. They are in desperate need of depth.
Morelos’ sale could fund another rebuild for them this summer.
