Who needs Angel when you have Ashley? Manchester United winger Ashley Young has agreed a three-year-contract with the Old Trafford club, according to reports from ESPN.
The 30-year-old was in his final year of his contract. He had begun preliminary talks over renewal last season, but he was still yet to agree an extension.
However, ESPN now reports that he has accepted the club’s offer and will pet pen to paper later this week.
Young dropped down the pecking orders at the club under David Moyes, but he enjoyed one of his best seasons for the club in 2014/15 under Louis van Gaal. Not only his performances reached a different height, but he established himself as a key player for Van Gaal’s side.
The England winger was initially deployed in an unfamiliar position as a left wing back, in Van Gaal’s 3-5-2 formation, but later was shifted in the left wing position when United switched to 4-3-3.
