After Louis Van Gaal admitted that Angel Di Maria is struggling at Manchester United and will take more time to adapt in the Premier League, Wayne Rooney has backed the Argentine to regain his menacing form.
Di Maria made a bright start for the Old Trafford side but the winger who made a whopping £59.7m move from Real Madrid last summer has faded with his below par performances in the last couple of months. Arguably Di Maria’s lowest point in his United career came in the weekend when he was substituted at half-time during the red Devils’ 2-0 win over Sunderland.
Rooney though believes that the Di Maria will soon establish himself as an integral member of the United squad. When asked on Di Maria’s dismal performance against Gus Poyet’s side, Rooney said, “It was one of those days that every footballer has.”
“He’s a great player. You don’t lose your talent overnight. Hopefully he’ll get back to his best and start giving some great performances. I think he will figure it out, we all have to do that sometimes. You have to come to it in your own way and I am sure he will be a big player for us between now and the end of the season.”
Di Maria has scored 4 goals and grabbed 8 assists in 19 appearances this term.
