Bordeaux’s captain and central defender Lamine Sane has revealed that Liverpool remains his first priority should he move to the Premier League.
The 27-year-old Senegal international mainly plays as a central defender, but can also operate as a holding midfielder.
Despite being happy at his present club, he admits while speaking to beINSports that he hopes to play for Liverpool in future.
He said as quoted by GFFN: “Honestly, I feel very good at Bordeaux, for the moment. It is true that I have always been drawn to England. As for a club: Liverpool. I have always said Liverpool, since my first ever interview. It is a club that I really like.”
Liverpool’s defence came under strong criticism in the first half of the season, a recurrent theme that had continued from last season.
However, following a switch to 3-4-3 system or its variation, coupled with impressive form of Simon Mignolet, the defensive organisation has vastly improved.
Rodgers will be happy to give Dejan Lovren, the big money summer signing who has failed to make a mark this season, another chance to impress next season, but he could be looking for a central defender in the market.
Sane has made 16 appearances in the league and made nine defensive contributions per game, as per squawka.
