Liverpool Chairman Tom Werner is confident over Raheem Sterling signing a new deal with the club. In an interview with Liverpool Echo, Werner said that talks are ongoing with the player and that the deal is ‘good for him and good for the Anfield side.’
He said, “All I can say is that I’m hopeful that we’ll conclude a deal. Obviously it’s important for us. He’s an exceptional player.” Werner also spoke about the importance of the Reds finishing in the top four this season and qualifying for the Champions League next season.
The 64 year old American also spoke of the importance of getting Anfield’s stadium development which is now finally underway. The process includes making changes this week and taking decisions to ensure the planned £150m new look. The project not only fits with the club’s look and traditions but also those of the city itself.
Werner also assured supporters that he does have sympathy with those campaigning for lower ticket prices. This will ensure that fans from every background will be able to watch matches and not get priced out in the coming years.
