Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu has committed his future with the London club after signing a three-year-contract extension, following a successful loan period at Valencia.
The former Barcelona player joined Chelsea in 2011 and made a decent start to his Chelsea career in his first season. However, a serious knee injury hampered his progress and restricted his league appearances to only six games the following season.
He was sent on loan to Valencia last season where the 22-year-old impressed heavily. The La Liga outfit tried to sign him permanently but following his double injury suffered during the season, the Los Che chose not to push for him.
Romeu impressed in the pre-season training for Chelsea and played over 70 minutes in the 5-0 victory over Wycombe Wanderers. He has now signed a new three year contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge till 2017.
It is a good move for the youngster, as he expects to get more games this season, following the departure of Frank Lampard. Along with Marco van Ginkel, Chelsea have two good young midfielders, who have bright future prospects, if they can stay injury free throughout the season.
