Real Madrid winger James Rodriguez has been linked with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu.

The Colombian dropped down the pecking orders last season and was benched for several key matches including the Champions League final.

At one point it seemed like the player was set to join Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester United. However, the Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has now rubbished all speculations and is ready to hold on to the world class winger this summer.

The Frenchman confirmed that James will remain a Real Madrid player come the end of the transfer window.

Zidane said: “James is a Real Madrid player. We have a very good squad, we have won with this team and James is just one more in the team. He will remain at Real Madrid.”

James had a fantastic World cup before securing his transfer to Real Madrid and then went on to have a memorable debut season under the former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian’s departure changed things for the player and he struggled to impress Benitez or Zidane.

Him being a Jorge Mendes client inevitably linked him with a move to Manchester United. The Premier League side’s need for attacking reinforcements fuelled further speculations about a potential transfer.

James made just 21 starts for Real Madrid last season and will be hoping for a change of fortune if he stays for another season.
