Anzhi attacking-midfielder Willian has been linked with Tottenham, Manchester City, and Chelsea of the Premier League this summer.
The 24-year old has been placed on the transfer list as the Russian Premier League side are looking to cut costs following a poor start to the new season.
‘Having analysed the club’s recent sporting results, the decision has been taken to work on a new long-term strategy for the club.’ – Official statement made by Anzhi.
A number of players have been put up for sale which could now see the Brazilian international exit in time for the 2013/14 Premier League campaign. After signing for the Russian outfit for £30M just 6 months ago, he could now leave for half of the price.
The midfielder recently admitted how he’d always wanted to join a side in the Premier League, but was not given the chance by his former side Shakhtar.
‘I had offers from big English clubs and from other places, but Shakhtar never accepted them. I wanted very badly to go to England, and couldn’t wait any longer to leave Shakhtar. Anzhi were the only ones who agreed to play for my release clause.’
Following the news of highly-rated Willian on the transfer list, a host of sides in Europe could now make a bid, but Tottenham are a side who have shown the most desire to sign him.
Manager Andres Villas-Boas has long admired the Anzhi player, and enquired about his service during his time as Chelsea boss. It is thought the London side are looking to replace to the outgoing Clint Dempsey.
Chelsea and Manchester City have also been keen on the 24-year old, but no official bid has been made.
Last season Willian made seven appearances in the Premier Liga, scoring once. He suffered a hamstring injury which delayed his debut after signing for the Russian outfit.
