Sporting midfielder Adrien Silva says he made the right decision to snub Chelsea, during the early stages of his career.
The 25-year-old has been one of the consistent performers for Sporting this season and helped the team qualify for the Champions League next season. He has missed only game this season for Sporting and is satisfied with the final position they ended up with.
Adrien was a target of Chelsea when he was 16-years-old. However, after a discussion with his family members, he decided to stay in Portugal with Sporting, and says, it was the right decision he made.
“It was very early in my career, at the age of 16. I wanted to stay and also talked to my family, who advised me accordingly. We felt it was better to stay here at Sporting, which has the best training in the world. Fortunately it was a decision right ” he said as quoted in Portugal newspaper Record, when asked about Chelsea’s interest in him.
Adrien has represented all the junior levels of Portugal national team, but he has yet to make any international appearance for the senior team. He is hoping, after a solid campaign, Portugal coach, Paulo Bento would include him in the national team.
