Glasgow Rangers are reportedly confident of signing Ianis Hagi on a permanent deal.
The Ibrox club are ‘close to completing a move’ for the 21-year-old who has impressed heavily for the Gers since joining them in the January transfer window.
Rangers signed Hagi on loan, and now they are looking to sign him permanently for £4.5 million.
Several heavyweight clubs including Real Madrid and Lazio have been linked with a move for the exciting forward who caught the eye in his 12 displays at Ibrox Stadium.
Earlier this month, Romanian agent Giovani Becali revealed that Jose Mourinho and Txiki Begiristain have asked about Hagi recently.
However, it seems Rangers are leading the race for his signature. The Gers ‘have been progressing the paperwork’ during this break to secure the signing of the player who is highly-rated by Steven Gerrard.
Should the deal go through, the £4.5 million outlay would be among the top 10 biggest fees paid by Rangers in the club’s history.
However, it remains to be seen what Rangers do after signing him.
According to reports from The Sunday Post, Rangers would sell Hagi to the highest bidder with a fee of around £9 million being mooted. In that case, the Gers could make a profit of £4-5 million.
