Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has rejected a move to Leeds United, according to a report from Football Insider.
Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa is believed to be on the lookout for a top-class goalkeeper this summer.
That’s because Kiko Casilla is being allowed to leave Elland Road to join Spanish club Elche on loan.
The Yorkshire Evening Post reported yesterday that Newcastle stopper Woodman was a transfer target for Leeds.
However, it appears as though Bielsa may now have to look elsewhere.
Freddie Woodman rejects Leeds move
Football Insider reckons that Newcastle were prepared to allow the stopper to join the Whites.
He has allegedly rejected a move to Elland Road as he didn’t want to be Leeds’ number two goalkeeper.
The 24-year-old has spent the last two seasons away from St James’ Park on loan with Swansea City.
He really impressed with the Swans conceding just 97 goals in 95 games and keeping 34 clean sheets in the process.
Woodman would have been a useful addition for Leeds. He certainly would have kept Illan Meslier on his toes.
The Chronicle claims that the Magpies value the goalkeeper at around £15 million.
Taking Football Insider’s report into account, the Newcastle goalkeeper won’t be rocking up at Elland Road anytime soon.
