Real Madrid announced the contract extension of Luka Modric yesterday.

Los Blancos and Luka Modric have reached an agreement to extend the player’s contract with the club until 30 June 2020. The club also confirmed that the Croatian will be presented to the media today afternoon at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

Recently, Toni Kroos also secured his long-term future at Real Madrid by signing a contract. The German also claimed that he would like to retire at Real Madrid.

Modric’s extension will come as a major boost to the fans as well as his teammates. The Croatian has been the best midfielder at the club ever since he joined them from Tottenham Hotspurs. Modric has made 180 appearances for Los Blancos since joining them in the summer of 2012/13.

Meanwhile, former Real Madrid legend Ronaldo has revealed that he wants Philippe Coutinho to join the Spanish giants. Ronaldo spent five years at Real Madrid and scored 104 goals during his time there between 2002 and 2007.

“I would like to see Coutinho at Real Madrid, the Liverpool player,” Ronaldo told Onda Cero when asked to name the player he would most like to see join Madrid.

The Liverpool star has put together quite a few splendid performances over the last 12 months and the Brazilian World Cup winner wants his compatriot to make a step up and join one of the best clubs in the world.

Since the departure of Luis Suarez, Coutinho has clearly been the best player at the club and has been a star performer for Klopp this season. The Brazilian is one of the best players in the Premier League right now and his flair, eye for a pass, link up play, and long range shooting are nothing short of outstanding. His style of play would be an ideal fit for La Liga teams.

Liverpool fans will be slightly worried about Ronaldo’s comments urging his compatriot to move to Real Madrid. They will know that the Reds need to get back into the Champions League this season, or else they risk losing their best player.
