Manchester United winger Memphis Depay has finally completed his move to Lyon earlier today.
The Dutch international was frustrated with the lack of first-team opportunities at Old Trafford and has decided to join the Ligue 1 side in order to kick-start his stagnating career. Depay will wear the number nine shirt for Lyon.
Manchester United have confirmed the move on their official website and Jose Mourinho was full of praise for the former PSV attacker during his pre-match presser for Stoke. Guardian are reporting that Lyon will pay £16m for Memphis Depay and the Red Devils have an option to buy him back for a set price in future.
Memphis is a fantastic professional, it would be wrong for anyone to say or think otherwise. I know people have an image of him in an amazing car or dressed in a certain way but that image is totally wrong. He worked hard to get a chance at this club and I have only good things to say about him.
Depay was signed by the former United manager Louis van Gaal for a fee of £25m and the Premier League giants have had to incur a heavy loss on the player.
The 22-year-old winger made 28 starts and 25 substitute appearances for Manchester United, scoring seven times during the process. This season, Depay made his only appearance for Mourinho in the EFL Cup victory at Northampton Town.
Meanwhile, the winger wished his teammates at United well through his Twitter account.
