Jose Mourinho is expected to take over at Manchester United at the end of the season and L’Equipe have published an interview with the Portuguese journalist Afonso De Melo, who claims that Mendes and Mourinho are planning a revenge against Chelsea.
He said: “Mourinho resented his sidelining at Chelsea. He has a very strong ego.”
“With Jorge Mendes, he prepares a thunderous return. In a large club. Even in decline, United is bigger than Chelsea. It will be a way for him to take revenge.”
Mourinho was sacked towards the end of 2015 for a poor start to the Premier League season and is apparently willing to join Manchester United in order to avenge his sacking.
There have been reports that Mourinho has a pre-contract agreement with the Old Trafford outfit. It remains to be seen how true these reports of him coming to Manchester United are. But, De Melo’s claims are certainly shocking considering the fact that Mourinho loves Chelsea and has a soft corner for them.
Furthermore, he has always been interested in the Manchester United job. So to claim that he is taking the job out of spite for Chelsea seems rather fabricated.
