Manchester United and Chelsea flop Radamel Falcao has been offered to newly-promoted Premier League side Middlesbrough, the Telegraph reports.

For what could be one of the most bizarre transfer move of this window, the Teesside club are now weighting up their option to offer a loan contract to the Colombian despite the striker’s prodigious wage demands .

Falcao has been the subject of two loan spells in as many seasons but has failed to make his mark in English football. The 30-year-old joined Man United on loan in 2014, netting just four times in 29 appearances for the Red Devils.

The high-profile striker’s ill-fated form continued last season as he faced five months on the sidelines with his long-suffering knee problem. Falcao made only one Premier League start and nine substitute appearances, scoring just a single goal during his season-long spell at Stamford Bridge.

The former River Plate, Porto and Atletico Madrid striker recently took to twitter to hint he plans to stay at Monaco but Middlesbrough are hopeful of luring him by offering him another crack to prove himself in the Premier League following his dismal record of just five goals in 36 games in English football.

Falcao has two years remaining on his contract with the French outfit but Monaco are reportedly keen to cash-in on the out-of-form striker.

The Colombian’s name appears on a list of players that Boro could sign this summer since former chief executive Peter Kenyon, who is an advisor to Boro chairman Steve Gibson, has close links to Falcao’s agent Jorge Mendes.

However, Falcao’s wage demands remain a huge stumbling block for his potential move to the Riverside Stadium this summer. Middlesbrough can not afford the sum that the high-profile centre forward expects to earn but Falcao has indicated in his previous spell that he might be willing to compromise his demands.

The 30-year-old accepted a £140,000-a-week deal to join Chelsea despite his remarkable wage deal of £285,000-a-week just a year before at Man United. Despite that, the Teesside club’s wage evaluation remains way off the player’s wage as of last campaign and are considering to offer pay-as-you-play wage because of his injury problems.

Meanwhile, a move to China, Far East and America remain alternative options for Falcao, who was once considered as one of the best players in the world.
