Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Swiss winger Breel Embolo.
The Basel youngster has attracted a lot of attention with his dazzling displays in the Swiss league and is a target for several clubs including Manchester United, Wolfsburg, Tottenham and Leipzig.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is also an admirer of the versatile forward and the Reds were close to signing him last season.
The 19 year old forward can operate as a wide forward or a central striker. Embolo is very highly rated around Europe and is expected to establish himself as one of the best young forwards in the game within the next couple of seasons.
Initially it seemed like Leipzig were closing in on the Basel star, but now Mirror are claiming that Manchester United are set to win the race for his signature after offering him wages of 4.6 million pounds per season.
The Old Trafford outfit are set to finalise the fee and complete the deal after the Euros.
According to the local media from Leipzig, Manchester United have already won the race for Breel Embolo and therefore the Bundesliga outfit have decided to pull out.
In other news, Manchester United have appointed the highly rated England youth coach John Peacock.
Peacock is the most successful youth coach in the history of English football and will begin working with the Manchester United academy from next season.
Peacock has already guided England to two U17s Euro wins and will be an invaluable addition to the academy coaching staff. The Old Trafford outfit are looking to reshape their academy this summer.
Peacock has also worked with the FA before and helped oversee their coaching set-up in his role as head of senior elite coach development.
He has also worked as an academy director at Derby County previously. Peacock is Mourinho’s latest appointment as the Portuguese continues to reshape the club after taking over from Van Gaal.
