Sevilla defender Jules Kounde was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea during the summer transfer window but the Spanish outfit refused to sell the player in the end.
According to AS, Manchester United could now make a move for the talented young Frenchman.
Kounde is undoubtedly one of the most talented young defenders around Europe right now and the 22-year-old could prove to be a sensational addition for the Red Devils.
Manchester United already signed her Raphael Varane earlier on this season to improve their back four and the arrival of Kounde will improve them further.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to find upgrades on the likes of Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof. Furthermore, Harry Maguire has not been at his best this season either. Kounde would be an upgrade on all three players.
The 22-year-old defender was keen on a move to Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window and Chelsea submitted an offer of around £42.5 million for his services.
It is highly likely that Sevilla will demand a higher fee if Manchester United come calling during the winter transfer window.
AS are now reporting that Sevilla are afraid of losing the talented young defender in January as it could derail their title ambitions.
The Andalusian side are currently third in the league table, just one point adrift of league leaders Real Sociedad. They have the best defensive record in the league and Kounde is one of the main reasons why they have been so good defensively.
It remains to be seen whether Manchester United can tempt the Spanish outfit into selling their best defender in the coming months. The Red Devils have conceded 17 goals in 11 league games so far this season and a player like Kounde could transform their season.
Even if the player costs a premium, he could be worth the outlay in the long run. Kounde is only 22 and he has the potential to improve immensely and develop into a world class footballer.
