Columbian winger James Rodriguez has been told by Real Madrid that he can leave the club this summer.
The 24-year-old joined the Spanish giants in the summer of 2014 for a reported fee of £63 million after impressive performances in the World Cup finals in Brazil that year.
Rodriguez hit the ground running at Real Madrid, scoring 13 goals and providing 13 assists in 29 league appearances in his first season at the Spanish capital.
The Columbian’s form dropped in his second season and fell further down in the pecking order since the appointment of Zidedine Zidane, who replaced the departing Rafa Benitez in January.
The former Porto and Monaco star was an unused substitute in Real’s Champions League final triumph against local rivals Atletico Madrid last weekend.
Rodriguez was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League back in 2014 while Manchester United remain favourites to lure the versatile winger this time around.
New appointed Red Devils’ boss Jose Mourinho allowed Juan Mata to join the Old Trafford outfit in January 2014 with the Portuguese boss reportedly said to be unhappy with the midfielder’s work rate and pace.
The Spaniard is once again expected to a high-profile victim of Jose Mourinho’s arrival which may raise funds to land James Rodriguez this summer.
Real Madrid want around £60 million for the sale of the 2014 World Cup golden boot winner since he is under contract with the Bernebeu outfit until 2020 but are reportedly willing to lower the price later in the transfer window if no reasonable bids come along.
