Brazilian forward Gabriel Barbosa has been linked with a move away from Santos all summer. The 19-year-old striker is regarded as the best Brazilian talent since Neymar and is a target for several clubs including Manchester United.
The Red Devils have been linked with the player recently and earlier this week Sun published an exclusive that Jose Mourinho is close to completing a move for the South American prodigy.
According to the report, Manchester United have agreed to pay 26 million pounds to Santos for the player and have offered 4 million pounds to his agent as commission. They also claim that Gabigol will complete his move to Manchester United by Thursday.
Sun add that Mourinho is an admirer of the player and he is satisfied with the fact that he has beaten Chelsea to the player. Apparently, the Blues were interested in signing the Brazilian as well.
The report also confirms that Woodward had a meeting with Santos President Modesto Roma in London and agreed to a payment structure after their initial offer of paying in four installments was rejected by the Brazilian club.
However, the player’s agent has now given this situation a major twist by claiming that Manchester United are not interested in his client.
Wagner Ribiero confirmed to Globo Esporte that Sun’s report is merely speculation and that his client is not closing in on a move to Old Trafford.
Time will tell whether the player’s agent is the one telling the truth or hiding it until the transfer to be confirmed. Either way, it is understandable why all the top clubs have been linked with a move for Barbosa. The young striker is a world-class talent and is a future superstar.
But for now, his future remains undecided, his future remains at Santos.
