Manchester United are looking to add pace to their attack, and José Mourinho has identified the West Ham United star Dmitri Payet as a possible solution.

The French international joined West Ham in the summer of 2015 and has been a massive hit in the Premier League. Payet had a stunning Euro 2016 with his country, as well, and is being regarded as one of the best players in the division right now.

Daily Mirror are reporting that Mourinho is a big fan of the West Ham winger and could submit an offer for him in future. However, they add that West Ham will not sell him in January and Mourinho might have to wait until summer. Mirror also claim that Payet is valued at £35m by the Hammers.

Despite his age, the 29-year-old has the ability to justify that fee if Manchester United decide to break the bank for him. Furthermore, considering the current inflation in the transfer market, £35m might not be too bad for a player of Payet’s calibre.

Payet signed a £125,000-a-week five-year contract in February with the Hammers and is easily the best and most valuable player at the club right now. If West Ham are forced to sell him, they have every right to demand a premium.

Payet scored 12 goals in 38 appearances for West Ham United last season and ended up being their player of the year. He also managed to score 3 vitals goals for his country during the Euros.
