Manchester United winger Memphis Depay has been linked with a move away from the club this month.
Manchester United signed Depay from PSV for a fee of £25m in 2015 and the player went on to make 45 appearances under Louis van Gaal, scoring 7 times in the process. However, things have not been the same for him since van Gaal’s departure. The Dutch winger has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter under Jose Mourinho and has played just nine games so far this season.
Le Parisien are reporting that Lyon want to put him out of his misery by signing him permanently. The report claims that Manchester United rejected Lyon’s opening offer for the Dutchman and the French club have now returned with an improved offer. The current offer is believed to be around €15m. The opening offer which was rejected by the Red Devils was around €12m. The report adds that Manchester United are assessing the offer right now and Depay is close to agreeing personal terms with the Ligue 1 outfit.
Manchester United recently sanctioned the sale of Morgan Schneiderlin to Everton. Depay was expected to follow him to Goodison Park as well, but the Toffees are only willing to consider a loan deal for the Dutch international.
