Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has admitted that his side haven’t played well under his reign and that they need the consistency which could well transform the team. The Dutchman has endured 8 testing months in the Premier League but United are currently third in the Premier League standings and find themselves on the brink of the FA Cup quarter final.
Van Gaal had earlier stated in October that it would be stupid to think that the Dutch visionary has a master plan for United but insisted that he had a three-year strategy for restoring success for Old Trafford side that he signed up for.
United travel to Deepdale to take on Preston in the fifth round of the FA cup and the oldest club competition in England remains the Red Devils’ best chance to win any sort of silverware this season. The United manager also spoke on wins over style and believes that he is heading towards teh right direction.
Van Gaal said, “Our goal was to be in the first four places. That’s a process of three years. I signed for three years. We are third and have been for a lot of time, not just one week in third or fourth. So we are showing that we have the results and that once in a while we play very well.”
“We showed last Wednesday against Burnley that it was no good in the first half, but we improved in the second half. It’s very important not to lose. We are in a process and we have to wait and see how far we can reach together. It’s logical that you don’t play so well sometimes. I can assure you that it’s not only Manchester United who play badly sometimes.”
United had spent a massive £155m in the summer and it is believed that the Red Devils could better that figure in the coming summer.
