Liverpool will travel to St. James’ Park on Saturday to face Newcastle United looking to cement their position at the top of the table.
Brendan Rodgers will be boosted by the return of right back Glen Johnson for this tie, while midfielder Joe Allen and on-loan left-back from Valencia Aly Cissokho could feature too. Rodgers insisted that Liverpool will travel with the strongest available squad against Newcastle.
Rodgers said as quoted in the club’s official site:
“Glen Johnson will be back. Joe Allen will be back. Cissokho will be back. As I said, this will be the strongest available squad we’ve had this season.”
Liverpool will be further bolstered by the return of Lucas Leiva following his one-match suspension against Crystal Palace in the last match.
The manager added: “Lucas will come back into the squad. He’s another player who has shown his worth and he’s got himself back into the Brazil squad.”
However, Rodgers will miss the services of creative attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho who is still undergoing his recovery from shoulder surgery in September.
Prediction: Last time Liverpool eviscerated Newcastle 6-0 at this venue and though similar sort of result may not happen tomorrow but expect the Reds to win (3-1) this tie convincingly.
