Liverpool have received an injury setback as youngster Jordan Ibe has been ruled out for four weeks after a knee ligament injury. It comes as a body blow for the player who has impressed over the past few weeks with his impressive performances.
Chris Bascome in his column for the Dail Telegraph writes that Ibe was injured against Besiktas during last week’s Europa League defeat and as a result he was ruled out of the game against Manchester City.
Further tests have now confirmed that the 19 year old will miss the action for the coming four weeks including the key clash against Manchester United on 22nd March.
Joe Allen who arguably put up his best performance in a Liverpool shirt was also happy with his game and later claimed that he has fully recovered from his injury problems. “It was probably one of my best performances for Liverpool. If I can maintain my fitness and make sure it doesn’t break up my season going forward then I’m confident I have the ability to put in those kind of performances consistently.”
Allen also believes that Liverpool can make it to the top four after a tough start to the season. “We won 12 of our last 14 games. In the last couple of seasons we’ve finished really strong and hopefully we can do something similar again.”
The Reds are currently fifth in the standings, a couple of points behind Manchester United in fourth and three behind Arsenal in third spot
