Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has been linked with a move away from Liverpool since the end of last season.

The Slovakian defender is now set to join Fenerbache. The Turkish outfit have announced on their official website that they are in discussions to sign Skrtel.

The 31 year old defender has been atrocious for Liverpool over the last few seasons and the likes of Lovren and Toure are all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Jurgen Klopp will be determined to improve his defence after how his team crashed at times last season and selling Skrtel would definitely be a good start for Liverpool. Furthermore, Skrtel is on big wages and it would be wise to get him off the books.

The Slovakian defender fell out of favour with the new Reds manager Jurgen Klopp and will continue his career in Turkey. Skrtel joined the Reds back in 2008 under Rafa Benitez.

The Reds have been linked with Bundesliga defenders Sule and Tah. They have already landed the Schalke centre back Joel Matip.

Earlier Liverpool Echo have reported that Liverpool have accepted a 5 million pounds offer for Skrtel. Fenerbahce’s announcement probably refers to the discussion of personal terms with the player.
